"Five years ago, I started traveling the world, and I quickly learned a painful lesson: Listing photos lie. After losing thousands of dollars to moldy rooms, fake views, and 'non-refundable' scams in South East Asia, I decided enough was enough. I started We Check Rentals to be the eyes and ears for travelers before they hit 'pay.' We don't just check IDs; we check reality."
The Turning Point
“I’ll never forget the feeling of standing on a sidewalk in Brazil at 10 PM, holding my luggage, and realizing the ‘luxury ocean beach villas ‘ I had paid for… didn’t exist. That wasn’t my first bad rental experience, but it was the one that changed everything.
I realized that as long as we rely on edited photos and anonymous reviews, we are at the mercy of scammers. I will soon share the entire story here. Just know that everything we post on this platform is 100% true, and we have the receipts to back it up! There is absolutely no need to lie.
We must build a community to stop this. I know I am not the only traveler experiencing these horrible setbacks—in fact, my team and I are still dealing with these issues even as I write this.
